Daft Punk Bails On Stephen Colbert For MTV VMA’s Appearance

After a promised appearance on Comedy Central’s The Colbert Report, Daft Punk did not show on the Tuesday, August 6 night slot due to a contractual obligation to MTV‘s August 25th award show, the Video Music Awards, or VMAs.

A disappointed Steven Colbert said that he’d been ‘daft punk’d’ into thinking that they’d be on the show for “Colbchella”. “Apparently, Daft Punk are going to make a surprise appearance on the MTV Video Music Awards,” he said. “Don’t tell anyone, because fun fact: No one told me until two hours ago.”

Still, Colbert already has plans with the likes of Jeff Bridges, Jimmy Fallon, Bryan Cranston and Jon Stewart for a ‘Get Lucky‘ tribute to the French robots.

For now, we’ll look forward to the end of the month, seeing a live showing of the robots on stage with their see-through instruments and mysterious gleaming helmets.
