Woodstock Site Considered For Future EDC

Insomniac continues to expand their massive North American Electronic experience machine, Electric Daisy Carnival, this time looking to invade the hollowed site of one of the most storied music festivals of all time.

Winston Farm, site of the ’94 Woodstock show, is the next target for the LA-based event company, as leaders of Insomniac met with the Town Board last week to discuss the possibility. The Daily Freeman reported that board members seemed interested in the idea, though permits would need to be approved before the event was a guarantee.

Simon Lamb, Insomniac’s chief operating officer, proposed the the event would bring up to 75,000 people to the area next Memorial Day Weekend, entertaining them with seven stages, carnival rides and performers.

“What makes our events special relative to other music festivals and other concerts, you know, (is) we create an environment that’s filled with installation art, fireworks, costumed performers,” Lamb said. “It’s much more of a combination of a carnival, theater, music, art and special effects. We encourage the audience to participate in the event.”

Keep your fingers crossed for a modern day Woodstock in the site of it all, and we’ll keep you updated as plans progress.
