Coming off of a hot Fourth of July weekend, this week we are bringing a couple of dance music legends to Phoenix, as well as a Swedish House sensation and LA’s next big player, for your dancing pleasure. Celebrating 25 years of Perfecto Records, Paul Oakenfold will be returning to Arizona to play out some of the tunes that have made him such a remarkable talent over the last 30 years. In addition, we will be graced with the presence of the extraordinary Benny Benassi, creator of the 2002 track “Satisfaction”, which to call a hit would be an understatement. We will also be receiving very special performances from the likes of Adrian Lux and Bones. Let’s take a look at what’s in store!
This weekend Bones brings his unique styles to BRKFST @ Nite in Old Town Scottsdale. Featured on our Weekly Underground Sound this week, Bones has proven that through his residency at INCEPTION at Exchange in Los Angeles and through AC Slater‘s Night Bass Series which holds monthly events in LA, that he is a force to be reckoned with in the Underground scene. Just by listening to his mixes, it is instantly recognizable that this guys has talent and knows how to manipulate the music in a manner that is sure to make us sway and roll our shoulders. Making recent appearances at festivals such as Electric Daisy Carnivals country-wide, Coachella after-parties, and HOLY SHIP!, we are honored to have such a traveled and recognized talent coming through Phoenix. We can’t wait to groove to his eclectic fusion of house, garage, deep, ghetto, and techno. If Bones could leave you with one message leading into the weekend, “Keep dancing dirty kids…”
Coming from a household where both of his parents were musicians, Adrian Lux was quick to acquire the base musical skill that he has developed over the years. Through collaborations with his parents at a young age and while growing up, Adrian Lux has transformed into a Swedish house indie mastercraft. Creating tracks like “Teenage Crime” on Axwell‘s Axtone label as well as signing to Ultra Records in 2010, this stalwart producer has been a unstoppable force since day one. Just last year he released his EP entitled Make Out which features “Wild Child” and “Sooner or Later”, and two years before that his self-titled release which includes popular tracks “Can’t Sleep”, “Teenage Crime”, and “Burning”. Over the years he has teamed with artists such as Rebecca & Fiona, Marcus Schossow, and Kaelyn Behr. In addition, he has been remixed by the likes of Hardwell, Axwell, R3hab, and Bassjackers, among others. Come to Talking Stick Resort this Saturday if you’re looking to be reminded of the feeling of young love and a worry-free summer, Adrian Lux’s specialties.
The legend himself, Paul Oakenfold, will be returning to Phoenix to celebrate 25 years of Perfecto Records at the Monarch Theatre this Saturday night! Paul Oakenfold is responsible for a number of significant movements in dance culture including the party and acid house scene in Ibiza, bringing Trance to the forefront of popular dance culture, creating international recognition for two of the UK’s largest nightclubs, and importing electronic music into the mainstream pop culture through film and video game scores. In addition to his contributions on a community level, his music is just as powerful as his name. Crafting amazing tracks such as “Bullet in the Gun”, “As We Collide”, and “Glow in the Dark”, Oakenfold has left his outstanding mark on all of our hearts and eardrums. Recently, Oakenfold has even taken a stab at the exponentially growing genre of Future House with his mix of Angela McCluskey’s track “You Could Be Happy”. Check out this article on why Paul Oakenfold can be defined as a legend and don’t miss this electronic music pioneer take to the decks this Saturday!
A truly special moment will occur this weekend when Benny Benassi takes to the decks and plays out the song that made him an international success back in 2002. The song “Satisfaction” basically catapulted Benassi from a low-rate DJ to a world-renowned superstar in a matter of moments. Receiving the highest new entry spot on the DJMag Top 100 at #18, Marco Benassi, as he was named at birth, was on the fast track to success and creating a massive precedent to go alongside his name. Five albums later and one upcoming album in the works, Benny Benassi has collaborated with some of the biggest names in music including Skrillex, Gary Go, Madonna, Chris Brown, Kelis, and many, many more. One of his biggest collaborators over the years however is his cousin Alle Benassi, who has stuck with him from the get go. Don’t miss this platinum selling producer take to the DJ booth at Talking Stick where he will prove to us that his diligence and success over the years was no fluke. In the meantime, check out The Relentless Beat of the Week where we highlight the Grammy-winning track with Skrillex, “Cinema”!
