EDMovie Round-Up: See the Latest from Calvin Harris, Thomas Jack, and More!

With so much amazing talent and so many songs out there to receive the video treatment, often times these amazing productions fly under the audience’s radar. When so much time, money, and artistry go into making these portraits that blend imagery, music, and a sense of timing, it is a shame that not all of them get the proper appreciation. Therefore, being an avid consumer of film and possessing the traits of a cinephile, I would like to treat you all to a weekly round up of EDMovies, or music videos of electronic music tracks. This first week, we have videos from the likes of Calvin Harris, Thomas Jack, Hardwell, Nero, and Galantis!

Calvin Harris & Disciples – “How Deep is Your Love”

“How Deep is Your Love” is a track that has been showing up everywhere lately, even receiving a remix by the man behind the song, Calvin Harris along with R3hab. This video chronicles a young female as she traverses through nightclubs, beaches, pool parties, sketchy house parties, and takes showers in the rainforest, all while being exposed to an epileptic display of multicolored lights. Also, how many times does she need to touch her hair?

Thomas Jack – Rivers

The first original track and original video from Thomas Jack, Rivers tells the story of young love, dealing with your problems in a relationship, and overcoming them for the greater good. The video follows a young couple who appear to be on vacation (or just lead a really ideal normal life), and how they sometimes argue, but who ultimately “make it into something beautiful”.

Hardwell & Dannic feat Haris – Survivors

Originally premiered at Ultra Music Festival Miami and released via Revealed Vol 6 earlier this year, Survivors is a massive collaboration between Revealed boss-man, Hardwell, his Revealed protegee, Dannic, and featuring amazing vocals from singer-songwriter, Haris. The video, shot in the luscious forests and bustling cities of Ecuador, follows a young woman from the jungle who discovers that there is more to life than what she is familiar with, there is music. Watch as she survives to hunt down the creators of her favorite new song.

Nero – Two Minds

Straying quite a bit from the three previous videos, Two Minds goes right along with the very futuristic undertones of Nero’s music. This track, although a bit of a different sound for Nero (no dubstep), blends deep house with the hard-hitting darkness of a standard Nero outing. The video follows an… anomaly… as she? he? it connects with strangers in unheard of ways, while also being hunted down by a ghostbuster-like team of leather-jacketed professionals (root for the anomaly, the other guys are mean). By the way, there’s a shocking conclusion, a big-twist, a Keyzer Soze of an ending, check it out!

Nero – Two Minds

Galantis – Peanut Butter Jelly

Definitely the most comical of the bunch, Galantis’ “Peanut Butter Jelly”, taken from their recently released Pharmacy album, follows the crazy antics of grocery store patrons and workers. Agreeing perfectly with the songs upbeat and groovy tone, the video presents a drab setting that is instantly electrified by a happy face and a funky beat. Flash mob style, the entire grocery store erupts into a frenzy of dance-hall slides and 70’s hip-shaking. With everyone in tow, the sexy tease, the man who was to lazy to put on clothes, and the janitor who hates his job, you’re going to want to join in on the dance party just like everyone else!
