Relentless Beats

Phoenix Lights 2016 Kicks Things Off With an Impressive Phase 1 and Phase 2 Line-up

Relentless Beats is on a roll bringing the bigger and better to Arizona. Wet Electric last April was the first two day festival followed by the amazing Decadence on New Year’s eve, and now they’ve got something else incredible in the works.

Phoenix Lights makes it’s return to Phoenix April 2nd and 3rd with an additional day and lots more artists for what’s looking like it will be one of the hottest events of the year. Two out of three phases of the lineup have been revealed and they’re stacked with artists both big and small that have pre sale tickets reaching a near sell out.

PHOENIX LIGHTS PHASE 1:

Kaskade – Kaskade rose to prominence alongside producers deadmau5 and Wolfgang Gartner during the revival of American progressive house in late 2008-early 2009. The Grammy Award-nominated artist has scored 12 Top 10 hits on Billboard’s Hot Dance Airplay Chart, created chart-topping remixes for everyone from Lady Gaga to Beyoncé, appeared at all the major summer festivals, including Lollapolooza and Coachella, and performed nearly 200 headlining shows a year for the last 10 years. In the process he’s become known as an EDM innovator, opening the doors for the likes of Deadmau5, Tiesto, Skrillex and more.

Yellow Claw – Formed in 2010 by DJs Jim Aasgier, MC Bizzey, and Snizzle, Yellow Claw made their name by hosting parties at the Jimmy Woo club in Amsterdam, and is now one of the biggest trap groups out there. In 2013, they released their single “Shotgun” on the Spinnin’ label while two EPs, Amsterdam Trap Music and Amsterdam Twerk Music, launched their relationship with the Mad Decent imprint. Amsterdam Trap Music, Vol. 2 followed on the label in 2014 and coincided with the launch of the group’s streetwear clothing line, Blood for Mercy.

TroyBoi –Troyboi is a multi-talented musician producing a wide variety of genres, but specializing in extraordinarily unique, versatile, and highly musical trap beats with a signature wonky sound. TroyBoi is without a doubt one of the top up-and-coming producers in the game right now and it’s quite clear from his composition that his influences are vast indeed.

Black Tiger Sex Machine – BTSM are a trio of electronic music producers from Montreal, Canada known for their heavy electro sound and post-apocalyptic visuals. Drawing from diverse influences ranging from old-school techno to classic rock to 90s boom bap hip-hop, they’ve maintained an intense production schedule over the last two years, releasing three EPs and an innumerable amount of remixes, collaborations and free singles that have drawn widespread acclaim.

Jai Wolf – Sajeeb Saha, 23, lives in the middle ground between electronic music and hip-hop. He adopted the moniker Jai Wolf to make a break from a dubstep past, but the project garnered unstoppable buzz when he gave Skrillex’s “Ease My Mind” an Eastern makeover. The bootleg remix caught the dubstep auteur’s attention and got Jai Wolf signed to the OWSLA imprint. He’s since played Coachella and Bonnaroo and remixed Odesza. Three weeks after the upload of his latest, the sun-infused downtempo track “Indian Summer,” he’s garnered a million views and is currently in the iTunes Electronic Top 20.

PHOENIX LIGHTS PHASE 2:

Bakermat – One of the younger artists coming to PL is Bakermat, a 23-year-old Dane with a big sound and risk-taking techniques. His most famous song on Spotify is “One Day”, a track that uses Martin Luther King, Jr’s hallowed words from his “I Have a Dream” speech as a sample. With an album coming out in 2016, Bakermat will be playing all over the world in preparation for the release.

Claude VonStroke – Barclay Macbride Crenshaw, also known as Claude VonStroke, is an American house and techno producer based in Los Angeles. He owns Dirtybird Records based in San Francisco, and in July 2006 he released his debut album, Beware of the Bird. He has produced a ‘Fabric’ mix, which was released in May 2009, and has also appeared on Pete Tong’s Essential Mix Radio show. Keep a watchful eye out for special performances with Green Velvet as Get Real!

Eric Prydz – Prydz is a Swedish producer who has achieved worldwide recognition. He has a bold musical agenda and an unrivalled ability to combine commercial success with underground notoriety considering his 3 x Top 2 UK hit singles and fastest selling release ever on cult download store Beatport. Check out his latest track with Rob Swire on vocals!

MK – Marc Kinchen known by his stage name MK, is an American DJ & music producer of house music. He hit number one on the US Billboard Hot Dance Music/Club Play chart in 1993 and 1994 with the songs “Always” and “Love Changes”. Aside from his own career as a recording artist, he is also known for the remixes he produced for other artists, such as Celine Dion’s single “Misled”, which became the first (and only) number one Billboard Dance/Club Play hit of Dion’s career. His remixes of Betty Boo’s single “Thing Goin’ On” brought the song to number five on the same chart. Check out his latest collab with Becky Hill, “Piece of Me” live via BBC Radio 1!
