5 Songs You Need On Your Coachella Playlist

It’s the weekend many of you have been waiting all year for: Coachella 2016 is here. Time to grab your friends and camping gear and head on into the Southern California desert valley. Or, if you’re like me, maybe it’s time to grab a box of tissues and cry because you couldn’t afford to be there…

Either way, this festival features some incredible talent that you need to check out.

Here are 5 songs you need on your Coachella playlist:

1. Big Wild- Aftergold (feat. Tove Stryke)

See Big Wild on Saturday April 16 and Saturday April 23

One of the newest tracks from Odesza‘s Foreign Family Collective is none other than Big Wild’s Aftergold, featuring some newly lyrics from Tove Stryke. Though Big Wild’s original is incredibly beautiful, the lyrics add a great touch making it a catchy song anyone can vibe with. If you’re headed to the desert this weekend, make sure you make time to catch some of Big Wild. He doesn’t just push buttons when he performs; his past live sets have including live drumming and keyboards, and even some whistling.

2. ZHU- In the Morning

Don’t miss ZHU on Saturday April 16 and Saturday April 23

Remember that song “Faded,” that we all couldn’t stop singing along to? Well ZHU is back at it with his recent release. “In the Morning” has a similar vibe to “Faded.” It’s deep, and its vocals are almost eerie, and the bass matches that vibe. Not only is he an incredible producer, his own vocals accompany many of his tracks. ZHU is definitely on the rise, another must-see set if you’re headed out to Indio this weekend.

4. Genghis Khan (Louis The Child Remix)

Catch Louis the Child Friday April 15 and Friday April 22 and Miike Snow Sunday April 17 and Sunday April 24

Freddy Kennett and Robby Hauldren are Louis the Child, and let me just say, they are blowing up. Currently, they are embarking on their first headlining tour across the US, and recently took the stage at Ultra. They took Miike Snow’s “Genhis Khan” which originally was a more indie-pop track, and transformed it into an electronic masterpiece. The track even features kazoo-like aesthetics which you may not expect to vibe out to, but trust me, you will. Freddy and Robby throw down during their live performances, so definitely check them out!

4. Major Lazer- Get Free

Party with Major Lazer Sunday April 17 and Sunday April 24

Major Lazer brings nothing but good vibes. “Get Free” is a classic song that’ll make you grab your best friends and hold them close (Let’s be honest though, your friends will be scattered and lost throughout the festival at this point). With hypnotic lyrics and a repetitive beat, this track will have you in a chill state of mind. But don’t worry, Diplo and the rest of the gang are sure to bring all the hype to the valley as well, so don’t miss out on this huge headliner.

5. Flume- Skin LP Preview

Vibe out with Flume on Sunday April 17 and Sunday April 24

Flume has been teasing us with his Skin album, and he still has not announced when it will be released. However, I’m willing to guess he’ll give Coachella attendees a closer look at what is to come from Flume throughout the rest of 2016. His Skin LP preview featured some classic elements that Flume fans love. It’s trippy, it’s hard hitting, and it pretty much takes you out of this world (which is exactly what music should do).
