Relentless Beats

Cookie Monsta – Wobble EP

If you like the grimy and straight up nasty side of dubstep, then you’ll definitely be a fan of Cookie Monsta. When he was growing up, he created beats on his brother’s playstation, and then went on to study music technology in college. Once he grew as an artist he became popular for such songs as “Yow Mamma” and “Supafly,” both released on Circus Records.

Since it got its start in the UK, there’s been talk about how dubstep has changed over the years in the sense of losing it’s ‘wobble,’ and now Cookie Monsta has created an EP to bring it back. He discusses the topic in an interview with youredm and says:  “I’m not doing this to try to start a dubstep revolution, I’m simply doing it for my own good! I’ve been making music for about 8+ years and it’s been 90% Dubstep. I’ve driven myself crazy over that time and this project was to take a step back and feel how I first started making music. I hibernated in the studio and it was so much fun making this EP, I haven’t had that much fun for ages.”

He also gives a little insight about the track “Ruff” off the EP: “Well, it began with an intro of orchestral instruments, this wasn’t even meant for my EP but it kind or worked with the other tracks. It just evolved from a chilled track to more of a gritty wobbler then I thought it’d be sweet to get a female vocalist in top. I also spent a smaller time frame then usual on the mix downs and arrangements.”

The EP is jam packed with all sorts of wubs and wobbles, so check it out now to see what you think of Cookie Monsta’s ressurection of the wub wub!
