RBDeep In the Mix: Sacha Robotti – Berlin to LA Mix

Being Italian-German, Belgium bred 3rd culture polyglot with a Russian first name and a passion for electronic music, it’s no wonder how quick the name Sacha Robotti has risen in the electronic scene, especially in Europe and North America. After being signed into San Francisco based record label Dirtybird in 2012, Sacha has been constantly producing and releasing bangers for the record label since. One of his highlights was his collaboration with the Dirtybird boss Claude Vonstroke in 2013, to produce a VIP version of “Lay it Down — Re-smoked”. After the collaboration, Sacha Robotti became a sensation in the Bird House, and continued to wow their fans with his talents. His latest track released by Dirtybird is his collab with Kevin Knapp called “Thump Bumper”. This track was released in the beginning of 2015, preparing Sacha for the busiest year of his life yet. Sacha Robotti recently moved to Los Angeles to fully pursue his career in producing electronic music. Being an amazing person he is, Sacha recorded a mix dedicated for the awesome people he met in both Berlin and LA, called “Berlin 2 LA Mix”. This mix is featured in this week’s RBDeep In the Mix for one reason: the Techfunk is strong in this one.

Techfunk is combining the elements of old school House/Techno and Funk, making the audience get down with the dirtiest and funkiest dance moves they can think of. Although Sacha Robotti did not create this sub-genre, he was one of the main artists to help manifest this genre to the way it is today. Throughout the mix, Sacha played funky tracks from other Dirtybird producers like Justin Jay, Lopezhouse, and Will Clarke, while constantly weaving in Techno tracks from other producers, such as Tiga, Doorly, and Marc Spence. He also played a mashup that he made for Dirtybird Campout 2015 called “Hoes vs. French kiss”, and it fitted into the mix seamlessly. Check out the “Berlin 2 LA Mix” below.

His name was greatly spread out to the global electronic scene when this mix was aired on Ibiza Global Radio. Now in 2016, Sacha Robotti is on tour again, and this time he is going to be the wingman for fellow Dirtybird, the almighty Ardalan on their “Thunder Tour” across North America. They will make a stop in Phoenix at Monarch Theater on May 14, and I look forward to see these guys live for the first time.
