RB Exclusive Interview: Thomas Gold Shares Words on New Track “Saints & Sinners”

Thomas Gold is a Berlin, Germany based electronic, house, and tech-house producer. At just seven years old, Thomas started playing music on his keyboard, then graduated to a synthesizer at the age of fifteen. Soon after, buying and collecting records became what really inspired Thomas to pour the foundation of his own music career.

“It took me a few years to get recognized in the scene, but I think the breakthrough was when I started releasing my tracks on labels such as Size (from Steve Angello) and Axwell’s Axtone. One of my most important remixes was around that time too, it was my take on Adele’s ‘Set Fire To The Rain’, which kind of marked my breakthrough in the US.”

Over the years, Thomas has found heaps of inspiration within American house music. Since then, he has had the opportunity to play some of America’s largest music festivals.

“When I played EDC Las Vegas or Ultra Miami, I felt very ‘home’ in a certain way. As I am constantly touring the US, playing there makes me always feel home. I have played almost all bigger festivals in the world, including Coachella and Tomorrowland, so at the moment there is not many new ones left that I still wish to play – I’m happy!”

His most recent single, “Saints & Sinners,” was released on July 1 of this year. The track has received a ton of positive feedback from listeners on YouTube and Soundcloud for its light, whispy melody. M.BRONX’s vocals give the lyrics their true personality.

“I liked what Michael had done in the past and one of my producer friends in LA actually got us in touch. So all the three of us met up in the studio and we wrote Saints & Sinners together. It was fun and it only took us a few hours to do the whole song idea. M. Bronx is a super talented singer/songwriter and his voice is very unique!”

For all of you aspiring producers out there, Thomas has some guidance to offer:

“Be patient and to take your time. You can achieve a lot but sometimes you have to invest a certain amount of time to get there. Also – try to find your ‘own’ special sound or at least something which makes you stand out a bit from the rest. And besides that – always be passionate and love what you do.”
