Phoenix Lights is just a few days away and we can barely contain our excitement. We had the chance to ask Oliver Heldens a few questions before he hits Phoenix Lights this weekend. At just 22-years-old he’s one of the hottest DJs in the scene right now. He’s known for his fun, high-energy sets making him a fan favorite in the festival circuit. Check out the interview below:
Your success has really skyrocketed after the release of “Gecko” just three years ago. Where do you see yourself and your career in another three years?
Oh, that’s a tough one! If you would’ve asked me this three years ago I would’ve never thought I’d made it this far in such a short time. In three years, I hope to still be releasing fresh, dope music that people enjoy listening to.
How does it feel to have such a presence and influence in the scene right now?
It feels amazing but also kind of unreal. I’m really grateful that my fans allow me to let my artistic side push the boundaries and that they fully support me with every release.
You recently remixed one of your own HI-LO songs “The Answer”; how have you balanced things between Oliver Heldens and HI-LO? Do you prefer one over the other?
I think I’ve found a pretty good balance between the two. I have a lot of new music coming up for both Oliver Heldens and HI-LO. I don’t prefer either of them, I just love making good music, doesn’t matter if it’s a HI-LO or Oliver Heldens track.
I know I can’t stop listening to your latest tracks, but what are you listening to lately? Favorite tune?
There’s so much good music out there, nowadays. But to be specific, I love the new Axwell ^ Ingrosso tune with Kid Ink and the new track from Throttle. Disciples’ ‘On My Mind’ is my favorite track at the moment.
I’ve seen you perform in Arizona a few times now, it’s always a treat! What do you like about performing here?
I just love the energy that you guys have over here! Every set I’ve played here has been absolute nuts.
What can fans expect from you during your Phoenix Lights set?
A great party of course! And there might even be some surprises, you’ll have to come to see!
Last words from Oliver Heldens:
For all my fans, just know that I love and appreciate you so much!
