Over the last seven years, Electric Forest has grown to be one of the most anticipated music events in the United States. Hosted by Insomniac, it gathers festival attendees to camp out on the grounds of The Double JJ Resort in Rothbury, Michigan for four days and four nights to soak up an energy that can only be found in the forest.
For the first time this year Electric Forest has been doubled up into two weekends due to the high amount of attendees it brings in. In recent years, Electric Forest sold out of tickets completely, with last year’s tickets gone six months prior to the event. Luckily, Insomniac realized how rapid the event was growing and took action by extending the event so more people have the opportunity to attend.
Even though it was extended, weekend one of this year sold out months ago because just like every other year, the lineup does not disappoint. 12th Planet, Liquid Stranger, Crizzly, Nero, Lotus, Chris Lake, Lettuce, Pham, Oliver Heldens, and Above & Beyond are just some of the acts dropping by to make an appearance. In addition, Bassnectar will be continuing his festival residency with a performance on both weekends.
From personal experience, I endorse this festival’s growth and what it continues to be, a gathering of beautiful, like-minded individuals entirely present as they get down and have a good time. Every year this festival reigns me back in, for I simply cannot get away from it. Being so close to where I grew up, Electric Forest is the perfect representation of the beauty that is displayed by humans connecting and reciprocating a collective identity.
