Leo Justi is a Brazilian producer and DJ who’s known for this unique style of music called “Heavy Baile.” He grew up in the Favellas in Rio and you can hear the influence in his globally unifying music. His latest track “Swipe It Off” with Brazzabelle and featuring Zanillya may be his most powerful tune yet. It’s a commanding and energetic track with a driving beat and strong percussion elements.
Describing the track’s origin, Leo Justi says “I started the beat with some baile funk loops, slowly changing the pattern to a rather Bmore thing”. Brazzabelle and Leo Justi swapped music hooks and vocals, and the song quickly took shape. “I like to use samples of real instruments to give tracks a unique sound,” Brazzabelle says. “The song is infused with distorted flutes and horns to give it some organic world music vibes that still sound dirty and cool. That gave the drop its Arabic feel.”
Together #We Play Strong
“Swipe It Off” holds a strong message of resiliency that makes it perfect as an empowerment anthem for UEFA’s Together #weplaystrong campaign. This campaign was designed to transform the image of women’s football and encourage more teenagers, namely among girls 13 to 17, to take up the sport. Together #weplaystrong is part of UEFA’s drive to make football the number one sport for women across Europe within 5 years. The track really sets the mood for the message and like the female footballers it is portraying in the visuals, is powerful, inspiring and dynamic. It’s seen tremendous support so far and received over half a million view on YouTube alone.
The film was played to over 200 million TV viewers during both the women’s and men’s FA Cup finals. The campaign will continue in the weeks leading up to this summer’s UEFA Women’s Euro 2017 which begins on July 16th and ends on August 6th.
Leo Justi and Brazzabelle are currently finishing a collaborative EP which will be released by Waxploitation later this year. Connect with their social to stay up to date on future releases.
