This weekend is for the house heads! First, in Tucson, we’ve got Chris Lake performing to a sold-out crowd. On Friday we’re hosting our third annual Phoenix Lights Presents First Encounters DJ Competition at AURA in Tempe. Saturday we’ve got Fisher at The Pressroom and Pauly D at Salt Glendale. Justin Martin is giving us a special St. Patrick’s Day performance at Shady park on Sunday to close out a great weekend full of music.
Chris Lake is one of the hottest names in house music right now. When he’s not performing at esteemed clubs and festivals around the world he’s busy on a variety of projects including his Black Book label and Anti Up, his DJ duo with Chris Lorenzo. He’s a regular here in the valley, playing a handful of shows here over the last year. This one is already sold out, so we’ll see you all this Thursday!
Phoenix Lights presents the 3rd annual First Encounters DJ Competition. Compete to win an opening slot at Phoenix Lights Festival 201 featuring A$AP Ferg, Excision, Griz, Kaskade and many many more!
The year is 2012 and the world only knew of Paul Fisher, the erratic WQS (worlds qualifying series) surfer from Gold Coast Australia. He had garnered a large following and devoted fan club with his blog and video series called Fish Tales on followthefish.tv. In 2012 Paul Fisher and fellow mate Leigh “Sedz” Sedley, came together to create the wavy house duo Cut Snake. The duo undoubtedly found success, but as they say, the fish must explore new waters. Fisher eventually went solo and has since proven swimming alone can be just as successful. Before Fisher would even release a mere 2 songs, Dirtybird swooped him from the Gold Coast waters and had him join the family. Just over a year ago he had his debut release with the label, “Ya Kidding.” Since, he’s released the chart-topping “Crowd Control” and the latest and greatest, “Losing it.”
Gym, tanning, laundry! It’s a phrase that flooded the nation after Paul DelVecchio Jr., publicly known as DJ Pauly D coined the term on the hugely popular show Jersey Shore that started in 2009. His exuberant personality and equally exuberant hair won the hearts of the people, and his musical talents behind the decks only continued to solidify his presence in the entertainment world. In 2010, DelVecchio released a single, “Beat Dat Beat (It’s Time To)”. He was also nominated for the “America’s Best DJ” competition in 2010 and 2011. He’s worked with some of the biggest names in the game from Big Sean to Britney Spears and now he’s bringing all that energy to Scottsdale for one crazy night!
There’s no better way to spend your St. Patrick’s Day than dancing in the breeze to the sweet sounds of Justin Martin. Everything this influential player does is pretty amazing. He’s a co-founder of one of the most fun labels in music, Dirtybird Records, known for their awesome BBQ style parties. Hailing from one of the grooviest cities in America, San Francisco, Justin Martin sure knows how to boogie. A few of his favorite things include booty, beats, beer, and pizza–we can definitely relate to that!
