Zeds Dead Adds a Dark Twist to Billie Eilish’s ‘bury a friend’

Zeds Dead released their second track of 2019 and it’s different than anything we’ve heard from them lately. Earlier this month the Canadian EDM duo released a hauntingly beautiful remix of “bury a friend” by Billie Eilish. Zeds Dead is no stranger to dark remixes and adds a new, edgier element to Eilish’s alt-pop ballad. Billie Eilish is known for having fairly minimalistic instrumentals and Zeds Dead did a great job enhancing an already flawless track.  The original song dropped in January and will be featured on her debut studio album When We Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go?, on March 29.

Dylan Mamid and Zachary Rapp-Rovan formed Zeds Dead in 2009. The group began releasing music on MySpace and started Bassmentality, a weekly party where local DJs could perform and practice. Over time, the parties began to attract more attention and featured new artists such as Skrillex and Nero. The group gained international recognition with their EP, Hot Sauce, which was released on Diplo’s music label, Mad Decent. Since then, Zeds Dead has released hits such as “Frontlines” with NGHTMRE, “Where The Wild Things Are” with Illenium, and “Magnets” with Snails and performed at major festivals across the globe.

Zeds Dead is hosting a special Deadbeats 420 event in Phoenix on April 20th and they’re bringing Troyboi, Liquid Stranger, 1788-L, and Blanke along with them. Grab tickets here.
