On the Rise: Ekali Reflects on a Sold Out Weekend

Nathan Shaw, better known as electronic music producer Ekali, is a Canadian DJ known for his unique sounds, fresh and creative mixes, and his excitingly original work in the EDM industry. Though he only reportedly started making electronic music in 2014, Ekali has grown exponentially over the past several years and has quickly climbed his way to success through his artistry. Much of his work has been highly recognized by listeners and artists alike, such as his official remix of Flume’s “Smoke & Retribution” and his viral remix of “Don’t Leave” by Snakehips. His mix series Awakening has also gained a considerable amount of attention having just released Vol 7 of the series as his official summer mix.

Perhaps one of his most notable accomplishments to date, the 27-year-old producer recently sold out a 3-show-weekend in Texas, which included his Houston and Dallas Stereo Live performances. To make things even more exciting, Ekali responded after the weekend on Twitter, saying “Just had a very special 3-show weekend in Texas. I played these exact venues about a year ago, and the balconies were closed, with barely 200 people on the floor. Every show this weekend was sold out. The energy was electric”. This just goes to show that with hard work, determination, and constant perseverance, anything is possible!

As Ekali continues to rise in the industry, his ability to inspire and amaze never ceases. Not only has he been on the lineup for many of the biggest EDM festivals in the country, but his own tours have seen a great amount of success as well. He is currently preparing to drop a new album and has been hinting at releasing some of the tracks very soon. If you haven’t had a chance to experience Ekali’s music, you won’t be disappointed.  Who knows, you might just find some personal inspiration and motivation to pursue your own set of dreams, too.
