DJ Snake Drops Impressive Sophomore Album

It’s been three years since DJ Snake released his debut album Encore. The album solidified him as a massive force within the industry, catapulting him into super stardom. He’s just released his Sophmore album, Carte Blanche, and it’s proving to be an impressive collection of work with millions of streams already on Spotify alone. In a statement announcing its release Thursday, the Paris artist pointed to his international travels and continued dedication to open-minded, genre-less creativity as key inspirations behind the 17-track project.

Genre-less is exactly right. This album is a musical melting pot of talent. The massive list of features includes Zomboy, Malaa, ZHU, Cardi B, J. Balvin, Bryson Tiller, Eptic, Gucci Mane,  Selena Gomez, and more. There’s house, bass, R&B, Latin, Hip-Hop. It’s a collection for the open-minded by the open-minded.

Carte Blanche includes previously released singles “Taki Taki” and “Enzo,” both of which have been wildly successful. The opening track, “Butterfly Effect,” has a sci-fi feel with an instrumental that erupts in dramatic drum and synth patterns. Keeping listeners on their toes from the jump this transistions into “Quiet Storm,” an epic dubstep collaboration. The remainder of the album continues much the same way. You can’t make any assumptions as to what you’ll hear next as DJ Snake is determined to break all the industry rules regarding genre. He’s here to prove you can make the music you love and the fans will follow.
