Insomniac Seeks to ‘Discover’ Upcoming Talent at EDC Vegas
It may be short notice, but Insomniac and its new venture EDMbiz just announced a HUGE opportunity for any up-and-coming DJ in the United States. For the first time ever, Electric Daisy Carnival will have a “Discovery Stage” dedicated to all the unsigned DJs and producers in the US and Canada who would never otherwise have an opportunity to play at arguably the country’s most recognized festival.
Discovery Project winners will be awarded a DJ set at this year’s EDC Las Vegas; one (1) artist pass and (1) guest pass; one (1) EDMbiz conference registration; $500 US (travel and accommodation is not provided); and consideration to be signed to Insomniac’s new DJ management company and music marketing platform. Basically, if you stand out amongst other entering DJs, you get a big kickstart to your superstar DJ career. It sure as hell beats whatever Simon Cowell is putting together for the American Idol of DJs.
So how do you enter? First confirm that you’re both a DJ and a producer–two original tracks are required to enter. Then, follow these easy instructions:
1. Record a thirty minute DJ mix that represents your own personal style AND includes at least two (2) of your own original track.
2. Upload your mix to Mixcloud with this cover art, the title/tag “EDMbiz presents the Insomniac Discovery Project” and a track listing. Do not forget to credit yourself for your original productions and timestamp the mix.
All entries are due Friday, May 25th. The competition is open to the US and Canada only. Mixes must not be longer than 30 minutes. Mixes without the correct title and tag may be missed. More information can be found at Insomniac and EDMbiz. Mixcloud competition rules and conditions are available here.
