Relentless Beats

Repeat Button: Empire of the Sun’s “DNA” (The M Machine’s “Helios” & “Apollo” Varieties)

Consider this as a Repeat Button EP. I wouldn’t be dropping a dual-track story if these tracks didn’t absolutely require it. They do.

Synth pop rock group Empire of the Sun dropped their sophomore album at the beginning of the summer, creating a CD entirely of tracks that could all be singles. San Fran‘s The M Machine kidnapped the song ‘DNA’ and flipped it twice into an homage to two sun deities. Fitting for the Empire.

The Helios version starts slower, a more uplifting with a piano riff and a montage worthy tune. Happy grooves take you away with the lyrics of Emperor Steele; a joyful soliloquy in “special days”, and keeping “each other awake”.

Empire Of The Sun – DNA (The M Machine Remix For Helios)

Cue the darkness. Electro vocal cuts design the beat of the song. Of course, Steele still keeps his lines, but they move to the beat of his ‘uh’s and ‘ah’s. And just wait until you hear the electric synths, singeing the hair off your body. There’s still a few months left in 2013, but I’m pretty sure it’s safe to say that this is a top five electro track for this year.

Empire Of The Sun – DNA (The M Machine Remix For Apollo)

It’s too bad that Apollo isn’t the god of war, because that song will destroy you.

Let mythology take the reins on this one. Someone in Mediterranean was looking out for The M Machine in remixing this track. The “Helios” version is located here for free! And guess what…here’s the location of the NOT free “Apollo” version.

What’d you think this was? Soviet Russia?
