YetepRemember when ASOT600 released their tickets for Madison Square Garden in New York City? Neither do I.
Within one hour, the show was sold out. Over 12,000 tickets. 60 minutes. And they said trance was on its way out.
This was only the second EDM act to ever sell out a show at Madison Square Garden, the first, of course, being Swedish House Mafia in September 2011. Yet, Armin van Buuren can boast the speed at which it was done.
“To be honest, I was surprised,” Armin told Billboard. “It’s a huge risk. I hoped it would sell out, but it was kind of an all-or-nothing thing, you know?”
Armin will have quite the entourage joining him on his 12-stop world tour. Markus Schulz, Ferry Corsten, Alex M.O.R.P.H. and W&W (who will be blowing the minds at Wild Knight this Friday).
“The Expedition” will be a five hour episode, aired live on his A State of Trance radio show around the world.
From a small radio show in Amsterdam to a sell out show at Madison Square Garden, even now, the world’s number 1 DJ is humbled.
“The awards are in my cabinet and I’ve made a lot of money in the past, so I have a comfortable life,” he told Billboard. “It’s more the fact that this law student from the Netherlands is now playing Madison Square Garden. I can’t play guitar. I can’t even sing.”
The epic American ASOT show will hit the Garden March 30th.
Also, we’ll be keeping an eye out for Armin’s next artist album, expected to drop in May of this year. Contain your excitement.
