YetepTechno-veteran Paul Kalkbrenner has made it clear that he is here to stay with the release of his seventh studio album, aptly titled, 7, and with a 20 year career in the electronic music world, it’s hard to fight him on that one.
Paul Kalkbrenner – Sky and Sand (Official HD Version)
Growing up in East Berlin, techno became a major part of Paul Kalkbrenner’s life. As the Berlin Wall fell in 1989, Paul Kalkbrenner watched East Berlin become an archaic playground for a repressed generation. For many, just like Paul Kalkbrenner, techno became a way of expression and eventually also became the soundtrack to the reunification of Germany. His new album expresses his evolution in sound that has brought so many millions worldwide together over the span of his career. This new album also sees the return of Paul Kalkbrenner’s vocals in his latest single, “Sky and Sand”. A special treat on this album is that Paul Kalkbrenner has been the first artist ever to be given access to the master vaults and tapes at Sony and Columbia, where he had the chance to take samples from musical icons such as Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash, Janis Joplin, and Bob Dylan. Throughout the album, we are reminded that techno doesn’t need to be dark, it can be full of emotion and hopeful.
The release of 7 will be accompanied by a brand new Paul Kalkbrenner live show, featuring a completely unique stage and production design to accompany the newly released material. Additionally, Paul Kalkbrenner will be performing sold-out shows in Paris, New York, London, and Berlin, where fans will have the opportunity to hear the new album before its release.
