Okeechobee Music & Arts Festival Drops First Wave of Artists for Inaugural Celebration
Based out of Okeechobee, Florida, Okeechobee Music & Arts Festival has dropped the first round of artists for it’s first annual show on the weekend of March 4, 2016 – March 6, 2016, and let me just say that the line-up is full of amazing talent and awesome surprises. Headlining this freshman effort is Mumford and Sons, Kendrick Lamar, and Skrillex. Each of these names represents the diversity that this festival has to offer, being acts from three completely different genres of music. To further the festivals musical diversity, you can see sets from Fetty Wap, Portugal, The Man, Grace Potter, RL Grime, X Ambassadors, Big Gigantic, Miguel, Four Tet, Future, and many more.
Okeechobee – LINEUP ANNOUNCEMENT
A couple of notable mentions on the inaugural line-up are the inclusions of Big Grams, and a special set that Okeechobee is holding entitled Powow! Big Grams is the collaborative effort between Big Boi of Outkast and Phantogram. The hip-hop/electronic rock trio just released their debut album as a group on September 25th, entitled Big Grams, via Epic Records. This is the trio’s first announced performance since the release of their album. In addition, Powow! teases a very interesting performance as the headline gives no name, just the words “A Superstar Mashup with Special Guests”. What exactly this means is up in the air, but many could speculate. We will just have to wait and see what this exciting endeavor holds in store.
Okeechobee Music & Arts Festival represents diversity in culture and community. According to their official website, “We will share taste and passion for great stuff of all shapes and sizes. There are no boundaries, there are few borders and all are welcome.” The festivals key goal is to “re-connect, re-awaken, and re-interpret the traditions that connected our ancestors to each other and the world.” A spiritual awakening is in store for all attendees of this massive new festival, and you are going to want to be a part of it.
Expect the wave two announcement for Okeechobee to make its way to the internet very soon. If what we have gotten so far is any indicator of what this fantastic new festival is offering, I believe we are in for quite the treat with round two.
