YetepAxwell recently hopped on air with Zane Lowe for his show Beats 1 – Apple‘s first ever 24/7 radio station, broadcasted live from cities all across the globe to premier his latest release, “Waiting For So Long (Gloria).” While on the show, the acclaimed DJ and producer made a very exciting statement about Swedish House Mafia! I know what you’re thinking, “Yes, it’s that moment we’ve all been waiting for: a Swedish House Mafia Reunion!”
Well… not quite. However, this is the first time any of the former Swedish House Mafia members have said something other than a solid “No” when questioned about whether the group will have a reunion after having played their last show 3 years ago at Ultra Music Festival. Even better than not delivering a definitive “No,” Axwell gave a lengthy statement about a possible reunion, saying that they all think about it from time and time again, and that who knows – in the future, it very well could happen!
“We think about it every now and then, you know what we left, what we did, what we accomplished and everything, and how it would be to do something together again. But I think, the only thing is that time will tell pretty much. We have been blessed to be riding this wave, and just ahead of the wave for some time now, so you know we are able to do exactly what we want, which is a blessing. You know this song that we just played, it was just like no thoughts, no need, no nothing, just music. Who knows what happens in the future, we might get a sudden urge for Swedish House Mafia again… who knows!” – Axwell
Since Swedish House Mafia bid their final adieu as a group in 2013 at Ultra Music Festival, the three members have embarked upon a new chapter of their careers. Axwell / Ingrosso have been touring as a duo, while Steve Angello has chosen to do his own thing. Each artist has shined bright individually, reminding fans of the immense talent that was Swedish House Mafia; all the while fans worldwide have been wishing, wanting and waiting for the trio to reunite – and for the first time ever, the window to this exciting possibility has been cracked open.
