YetepThe Grammys have been notorious for selling dance music short in the awards shows larger categories, and unfortunately this year is no different. We have the likes of Taylor Swift, Kendrick Lamar, Ed Sheeran, The Weeknd, and more heading up the larger categories like Album of the Year and Record of the Year. All of these names listed are certainly no stranger to dance music, so the genres relevancy and popularity rise over the last couple of years is certainly felt, but it still may be a bit of time before it is recognized on such a wide scale.
On the other hand, as far as the dance music categories within the show go, there is certainly cause to celebrate. Jack Ü, as we all know is the collaborative effort between Diplo and Skrillex, is coming in strong with numerous nominations at the coveted award ceremony. Raking in nominations in categories including Dance Recording of the Year with “Where Are U Now” ft Justin Bieber, Dance Album of the Year for Diplo and Skrillex Present Jack Ü, and a nomination for Diplo in the Producer of the Year, non-classical category.
Also representing dance this year are artists like Above & Beyond and Galantis for the tracks “We Are All We Need” and “Runaway (U & I),” respectively, as well as Dance Album of the Year nominees The Chemical Brothers and Disclosure. You can check out a full list of nominees for relevant categories below:
Producer of the Year, Non-Classical
Best Dance Recording
Best Dance/Electronic Album
Best Remixed Recording, Non Classical
Below you will find the main category nominations:
Album of the Year
Song of the Year
Record of the Year
Watch out as two of these Grammy nominated groups, Jack Ü and Above & Beyond, make there way to Decadence AZ this NYE for the biggest holiday celebration the state has seen!
