YetepIf a producer hits one billon streams in his lifetime, that’s a pretty rad story to tell the grandkids. Norwegian DJ Kygo just became the fastest artist in history to get there: in just one year. His exponential rise in the EDM world did not peak when he was named Spotify’s “Breakout Artist 2015,” and it certainly is not going to plateau at one billion streams.
His first single “Firestone” racked up 336 million streams, and his second, “Stole The Show” was streamed 305 million times. His newest track “Stay”, freshly released on December 4th, has already acculmulated 15 million streams. This milestone makes Kygo the 20th most streamed artist on Spotify.
With 14 million monthly listeners, Kygo is bringing tropical house to the frontlines of EDM. Being the fastest artist to reach one billion Spotify streams ever ain’t too shabby. Let’s see what happens when he releases his new album in 2016.
