3LAU Aims to Raise $100,000 in 2016 for Charity with his Record Label BLUME

If you know two things about Justin Blau (3LAU), it’s that he makes incredible music, and he’s dedicated to giving back.

Over the past three years, Blau has raised over $100,000 for Pencils of Promise (PoP), a global education organization that builds schools and provides quality educational programming to increase literacy rates in countries like Ghana and Guatemala.

Back in 2013, Blau had a chance to visit one of the schools that his donations helped build. Check out this video recapping his visit to Guatemala:

“Today has been the proudest day of my life,” Blau says in the video. His visit truly left an impact on him, but his philanthropic efforts didn’t stop in 2013.

Fast forward to 2016: In early April, 3LAU announced the launch of his charity label BLUME. According to Billboard, this is “billed as ‘the first not-for-profit dance music label and philanthropic movement.'” He aims to raise an additional $100,000 for PoP by the end of 2016.

Every dollar from sales and streams of his latest single “Is It Love (Feat. Yeah Boy)” will be donated to his campaign with PoP.

Blau told Billboard that his passion for education “lies in its capacity to re-shape the root causes of virtually every single global misfortune, from poverty and disease to corruption and war.”

He added, “Access to education is a stimulating force for change and a core solution, not just a band-aide for symptomatic issues.”

You can check out Blau’s current progress with his PoP campaign here, and even donate to the cause yourself if you’d like.

Blau has also partnered with the brand Electric Family, to bring awareness to this cause. You can purchase a unique 3LAU bracelet for just $13.99, and the proceeds will be donated to PoP.

According to Billboard, although education is Blau’s primary focus, he plans to allocate funds raised by BLUME to different causes in the future.

Don’t forget to support 3LAU and his efforts on Saturday, April 30 at Wet Electric 2016.
