The Kid’s 3 Reasons Oliver Heldens Will Have You Saying “Ooh La La”

Oliver Heldens is a Dutch music producer from Rotterdam in the Netherlands. He first came into stardom with his 2013 song, “Gecko”, as it caught the attention of Tiesto, who signed him to his label, Musical Freedom. Heldens also has a weekly podcast titled Heldeep Radio. He has had huge success in the UK in the last 12 months, having had 3 top 5 singles, those being his songs ‘Gecko (Overdrive)’, ‘Last All Night (Koala)’ and his remix of Dr Kucho!’s ‘Can’t Stop Playing’ reaching numbers 1, 5 and 4 respectively. For only being 21 years of age currently, those are some pretty impressive feats.

For those of you who don’t know Oliver will also be here on May 7th to tear up the Talking Stick Resort. So for this week The Kid’s weekly feature will focus on the 3 Reasons Oliver Heldens will have you saying “Ooh La La”.

1. HI-LO Alter Ego

Oliver Heldens, almost about a year ago, revealed himself to be the man behind the mysterious producer HI-LO that generated a lot of buzz with his single “Crank It Up.” In addition to sharing his new identity, Oliver also shared the news that he has started his own label, Heldeep Records, and that “Renegade Mastah” would be the first track on the imprint. Oliver is said to play more melodic music under his main name, but when HI-LO comes to the stage he provides a darker and more bass-driven side of house music. However, since the announcement almost a year ago the two sides of his music have been seen to come together more often, which we will get to be able to see for ourselves when Oliver comes on May 7th!

2. New Track with Chocolate Puma

We all know Oliver Heldens for his sense of humor, shuffling skills, and fun animal related tracks. However just recently he’s released an awesome new track with two dudes named Zki & Dobre. They’re from the Netherlands as well and have gone by many alias’s but are currently known as the dutch house duo ‘Chocolate Puma.’ Their biggest international hits remain to be “Give It Up” in 1993 and “Who Do You Love Now?” which they released calling themselves ‘The Good Men”. Heldens new track with Chocolate Puma was debuted at Ultra Music Festival and titled “Space Sheep”. While some may have been confused as he played it alongside Don Diablo, the track is actually a collaborative effort with Chocolate Puma. Check it out below!

3. Performance with Throttle at Talking Stick Resort

Alongside Oliver Heldens this weekend at Talking Stick will be Throttle. Throttle and Oliver have crossed roads plenty of times before and in fact they worked on a song together titled “Waiting” a while ago. Fans of both future house and disco will be more than excited to hear this collaboration which really showcases the best of both producers. Cue the old school grooviness courtesy of Throttle, with Oliver throwing in his classic melodic progressions and dirty future house drops and you get a pretty dirty final piece of work.

Be sure to check out Oliver Heldens this Saturday May 7th! If you want tickets can be bought right here and don’t forget to find a local promoter and use a promo code to save yourself some money!
