Avicii has performed to a sold-out crowd for the very last time. In March of this year Avicii, only 26, broke the news to his fans that he’d be retiring from life on the road with an emotional letter that he released on his website. The Swedish producer, who has been touring since the age of 18, mentioned the need to work on his health and well-being. He stated that he has “too little left for the life of a real person behind the artist.”
He performed his last show on August 28th at Ushuaia, Ibiza, where he’s held a residency for the last five years. Joining him for this once-in-a-lifetime show are some of his best buds: KSHMR, Seeb, Albin Myers, and the Mambo Brothers! Just this clip of “Wake Me Up” from his debut album True is enough to give you goosebumps. You can feel the energy and the emotion of the crowd. It was surely a beautiful moment and an unforgettable night.

Avicii Last Show – Ushuaia 28 August 2016 – Wake Me Up
Although Avicii is taking an indefinite break from touring, he gives fans hope that there may be future performances. In a recent interview with Billboard Magazine he said, “..So far it has paid off tremendously in terms of well-being for me. I’m happier than I have been in a very very long time. Stress-free more than I have been in a very long time. I can’t say I’m never going to have a show again. I just don’t think I’m going to go back to the touring life.” This may be the end of an era so to speak, but it’s comforting to know he isn’t planning to step away from the industry all together.
As someone who has helped bring EDM to the masses, Avicii’s presence will truly be missed. Hopefully this isn’t a final farewell so much as a “see you later”. Until them his legacy will live on.
