YetepDecadence Arizona New Years Celebration artist Marshmello is known for his 8-bit festival trap sound as well as being a “crowd pleaser” at his shows. In his most recent live stunt, which somehow managed to avoid incorporating Deadmau5, Mello incites the opposite of a riot and freezes the crowd for the first major mannequin challenge at an EDM show.
I am not quite sure how he manages to get a sea of rowdy kids to stay still, especially the bassheads at the gate. However, the audience participation is exemplary and the result is pretty epic!
DJ’s are always looking for new ways to spice up their hour long time slots. Since Marshmello, a handful of other DJ’s have successfully executed the mannequin challenge with a large crowd.
The most notable are the attempts made by Herobust at the Arizona Global Dance Festival last weekend and by Mashd n Kutcher at Pacha Sydney. While Mashd n Kutcher does a great remix of the original Black Beatles track, Herobust manages to keep a rowdy AZ festival crowd still for a few seconds before the drop which is extremely impressive. Check out both videos just below!
These performers sure know how to keep a crowd interested by adding interactive elements to their sets; let’s just hope that nobody pulls the ice bucket challenge on us at Decadence Arizona New Years Celebration.
