Dance Music Nominations for the 59th Annual Grammy’s

Nominations were recently revealed for the 59th Annual Grammy Awards that will take place February 12, and dance music is getting some recognition!

I don’t think anybody is surprised that The Chainsmokers lead the nominations as they’ve dominated this entire year. The duo received three nominations: ‘Best Pop Duo/Group Performance’ for “Closer”, ‘Best Dance Recording’ with “Don’t Let Me Down” and actually made it into a ‘Big 4’ Category this year, ‘Best New Artist’!

Flume picked up nominations for ‘Best Dance Recording’ for “Never Be Like You” alongside Bob Moses, The Chainsmokers, Riton, and house music dio, SOFI TUKKER. Flume’s LP Skin received a nom for ‘Best Electronic/Dance Album’ and will go up against Jean-Michel Jarre, Underworld, Louie Vega as and the more contemporary Tycho.

While Justin Beiber‘s album isn’t Electronic, many of the feature and contributions are. He landed four nominations, including Album of The Year, which featured plenty of dance music staples such as Diplo, Skrillex, Steve James and Benny Blanco who was also nominated for Producer of The Year.

Steve Aoki: I’ll Sleep When I’m Dead | August 19 | Netflix

Other nominations include UK producer Jamie xx who’s also up for nomination for the ‘Best Music Video’ award, while Steve Aoki’s Netflix special, ‘I’ll Sleep When I’m Dead’ is up for a ‘Best Music Film’ award.

Tune into the Grammy Awards on February 12th, 2017, and be there when The Chainsmokers wrap up an amazing year at Decadence AZ! Get tickets here.
