DJ To Watch: SAYMYNAME

SAYMYNAME, who also goes by Dayvid Sherman, is a DJ from the Los Angeles area. He grew up in a musical household with a DJ as a father. He received his first turntables in fifth grade. After graduating from Chapman University Dayvid was discovered as part of Insomniac’s Discovery Project when he was the winner in 2013.

He’s a pioneer of the emerging style, ‘hardtrap’, that combines the kick drums of hardstyle and bass heavy trap beats. In fact, fans have even labeled him ‘the godfather of hardtrap’. In a recent interview, Sherman said, “hardtrap is aggressive, and it’s spreading. It awakens the beast out of people and I believe that’s what my fans love about it.”

He’s a master remixer (one of his most popular tracks was a trap edit of Showtek‘s hardstyle anthem “FTS”) and many of his mixes have seen support from industry leaders such as DJ Snake, Slander, The Chainsmokers and Martin Garrix. He was recently featured on the “Propaganda” remix album.

Davyid has performed at such festivals as Insomniac’s Basscon, EDC Las Vegas from 2013 to 2016, and Nocturnal Wonderland. Large crowds and full tents are expected during a SAYMYNAME set. A second EP is reportedly in the works under Buygore Records.

Dayvid is proof that you can go from bedroom studios to mainstage sets. He has a larger than life stage presence (quite literally, he stands at 6’4″!) and an infectious energy that captivates a crowd. SAYMYNAME is definitely a DJ everyone should be watching.
