RB Deep in the Mix: The Anjunadeep Edition with Moon Boots
Pete Dougherty, better known as Moon Boots–the man whose boots were made for hopping around in zero gravity–is a remarkable man, equipped with reason, intuition, and groove. This disco house extraordinaire entered the world in the mid-1980s via Cape Canaveral, FL. He’s become known for his sparkling and fun tracks (mostly) on the acclaimed platform French Express. Alongside the likes of Jonas Rathsman and Perseus, the French Express crew has led the charge of the internet-era disco-house sound permeating speakers the world over. He’s been hard at work on his debut album
He’s been hard at work on his debut album The Aquatic Life, that’s expected to be released in August on the Anjunadeep label. Ahead of the album’s release though, he’s teamed up with Anjunadeep for Edition 146 and this week’s RB Deep in the Mix!
The deeper sides of house and the throwback retro tunes which make a Moon Boots set so identifiable are featured in 60 minutes of shiny beats. It’s got a perfect mix of the soothing sounds of underground disco and R&B boogie records. If it’s any indication of what the upcoming album will sound like, we’re pleased! About the album, Moon Boots said, “I wanted to make music in a variety of tempos and styles, and it’s a lot tougher to do that when you’re only putting out one track at a time. There are elements of R&B, Chicago House, Classical, Balearic and Bossa Nova all woven into the album. There’s darkness and light and themes about love, escape, and transcendence. I’m really fortunate that Anjunadeep encouraged me to stretch out like this and it’s great to fully become a part of their family with this album. I put a lot of my soul into this album and I hope people are surprised by it and enjoy it.”
