Chris Lake’s ‘Operator’ vs. ‘I Want You’ Remix Package

2017 has been a big year for Grammy-nominated producer Chris Lake. He created his own label, Black Book Records, which the instant classic “Operator” was released on. Shortly after, him and Skrillex came out with the collaboration album of the year, HOWSLA, which hit #1 on the iTunes charts. Chris Lake was first recognized for his impressive remixes of songs such as  “Climbatize” from The Prodigy, Leftfield’s “Phat Planet,” and Eurythmics “Sweet Dreams.” This time, however, it’s his tracks getting the remix treatment.

He just dropped a remix pack for his two compilation cuts, “I Want You”  and “Operator,” on OWSLA today with a diverse crew of remixers including Mr. Oizo, DJ Sliink, 1991 and QUIX.

This remix EP is just about as well-rounded and diverse as it gets. Oizo, whose remixes are far and few between, takes “Operator” up a few notches into 115 BPM territory. Sliink, 1991 and QUIX give their own spin to “I Want You” applying club, DnB, bass, and tech house styles. Of all five takes, I have to say I keep coming back to 1991’s, as the wide bassline and ace drum work elevate “I Want You” to previously unthinkable levels. My personal favorite comes from Quix. He turned the groovy house tune into a festival worthy banger that I can’t get enough of.

Chris Lake will be bringing these killer tracks and many more to Shady Park in Tempe on October 13th. Grab tickets here!
