YetepClocking in at an eye-watering 15 tracks, it’s clear that UZ didn’t have plans for the remix LP to his latest album Layers to be a small affair. Far from it, it’s a mammoth beast that has a seriously stellar list of superstar DJs who all step up to offer their own unique take on the originals distinctive track-listing.
Being released on his own Quality Goods Records label, Layers (The Remixes) traverses styles and sounds with a diverse range of production: from Perk Pietrek’s banging opener “Stockholm White,” featuring Elliphant we work our way through two remixes of “Inferno” (from Holly and Machinedrum), three remixes of “Lobby” (courtesy of sumthin sumthin, Tapecut and Yvng Jalapeno) and four remixes of the Foreign Beggars featured “Bang” (with Avance, sfam, UNKWN and Teddy Killerz on remix duties).
There’s certainly a lot to ingest on this album but with so many different styles on offer, it doesn’t get stale at all. Be sure to check out “Layers” (The Remixes) and you can get it from all good download stores here.
