Get to Know Big Wild

With Decadence AZ around the corner, it’s time to start building up our music playlists with DJs we don’t want to miss. Be sure to add Big Wild to your list, as this east coast music producer is taking the EDM world by storm.

Big Wild, born Jackson Stell, is a producer and DJ who got his start at the mere age of 14 under the alias “JBeats.” He started his career in Lancaster, Massachusetts with a sound heavily influenced by hip-hop, but after relocating to Big Sur, California in 2012, he started producing under the name Big Wild. His sound has since evolved into more ambient, atmospheric, and even funky vibes. One of his first well-known tracks came out of opening a few California shows for Odesza. His remix of Odesza’s “Say My Name” was released soon after, helping Big Wild truly kickstart his career. Check out the jazzy tune below.

In 2015, Big Wild released what might be his biggest track.. yet. “Aftergold,” an East Indian-inspired track, featuring Tove Styrke, has had millions of plays on Spotify, Soundcloud, and Youtube. Check it out below.

Big Wild has since remixed tracks from GRIZ, Bro Safari, and Zhu just to name a few. He now tours with the likes of Pretty Lights and Bassnectar. What makes Big Wild unique is the inability to classify him into one category of sound. The producer combines elements from different genres, instruments, and parts of the world to create unique tracks that leave listeners awe-struck.

If you’re now craving more Big Wild, like I’m sure you are, you’re in luck – you can catch him at Decadence AZ this month as well as other big-name artists like Borgore, Armin Van Buuren, Zhu, and more. Get your tickets and more information here.
