YetepIf it’s seemed quiet lately from California music producer Jeff Montalvo, known as Seven Lions, it’s because he’s been hard at work on a side project called The Observatory, a series of mixes showcasing a variety of genres, styles, and artists. He released the first episode just last week, and coming in at just under two hours, the mix features such artists as Above and Beyond, Porter Robinson, and San Holo and maintains the classic Seven Lions atmospheric sound. Check out the first edition of The Observatory below and see what you think!
The episode infuses some of his original tracks, like “Cold Skin” and “Cold Hearted” with songs from several other artists. The mix seems to come straight from Seven Lions’ personal tastes and interests, indicating this project is something he feels passionate about. With the release of the first installment, he said, “The Observatory Episode 1 is the first in a new mix series from me. Just like The Observatory Spotify playlist, this series allows me to highlight different tracks I wouldn’t normally play in my live sets, and explore different sides of my tastes and influences. Hope you enjoy.”
