The Rise of Fisher: From Fish Tales to EDM Scales

The year is 2012 and the world only knew of Paul Fisher, the erratic WQS (worlds qualifying series) surfer from Gold Coast Australia. Being a surfer down under is about as out of the ordinary as seeing a totem at main stage but Fisher was unlike the rest. He had garnered a large following and devoted fan club with his blog and video series called Fish Tales on followthefish.tv. On this channel, he would capture authentic and wildly outrageous moments of him just beginning him. Topics would span from pranks to camera chats with fellow surfers and everything in between.

Though it seemed like we all got a VIP-behind-the-curtain-look at Paul Fisher’s life, there was one thing he did not flaunt–his time amongst the decks. In 2012 Paul Fisher and fellow mate Leigh “Sedz” Sedley, came together to create the wavy house duo Cut Snake. Since, the two have solidified themselves quite nicely in the vivacious Australian EDM scene.

The duo undoubtedly found success, but as they say, the fish must explore new waters. Last year Paul Fisher, now just Fisher, went solo and has since proven swimming solo was the move.

Before Fisher would even release a mere 2 songs, Dirybird swooped him from the Gold Coast waters and had him join the family. Just over a year ago he had his debut release with the label, “Ya Kidding,” and If you know anything about deep house, you know this song. Since, his released the chart-topping “Crowd Control” and the latest and greatest, “Losing it” which might very well be on every Spotify playlist at the moment.

And now this Fish is finally ready to catch some shade. Come out at Shady Park on November 4th to catch Fisher in a new habitat. Grab your tickets here.
