YetepWhen Dog Blood announced their third EP people were excited for good reason. Dog Blood, which consists of Skrillex and Boys Noize, last released music in 2013 with their hit EP Middle Finger Pt 2. Two months ago, the first single “TURN OFF THE LIGHTS,” off their newest EP, was released and it’s done exceptionally well for a duo that’s heavily influenced by the underground sounds of trap and bass house. Fans were excited to hear what else Skrillex and Boys Noize had in store for Dog Blood’s revival and on we finally have the answer in the form of a new track titled “BREAK LAW.”
“BREAK LAW” is a unique mix of trap and bass house. Skrillex has been fusing the two genres for a while, but with the addition of Boys Noize, we’re hearing a completely new sound. Trap bells and vocals from Queen Latifa play throughout the song to give it serious hype, and the main synths are true to Dog Blood’s more grungy aesthetic. The song is pretty different than the last release we saw from Dog Blood, but it’s just as energetic and groovy. Already, “BREAK LAW” has over 800,000 listens on Spotify alone. Dog Blood has really raised the bar in the bass house/ trap genre with this one.
