YetepFuture bass is often analyzed as being an oversaturated genre lately, but Jesse Hughes, known by his stage name Vanic, shines too brightly to be lost in the shade. Known for his melodic and indie-infused music, Vanic composes tracks that are graceful and engaging with just the right level of energy. With summery synths that refuse to remain static, Vanic does something beautiful when he produces. His latest “Cannonball” glows with this same vibe, and for this reason, it’s this week’s Beat of the Week.
“Cannonball” balances Jocelyn Alice’s crooning, nearly sorrowful from emotion voice with synthy guitar and sound design that’s a little reminiscent of San Holo. It’s a dynamic song that doesn’t ooze too much of one emotion, and that’s how Vanic’s live sets are, too. I saw Vanic at Phoenix Lights earlier this year and the complexity of what he creates melted beautifully with the sun that was just starting to set. Don’t miss out on Vanic vibes; make sure you see him when he plays with Audien at a Release Pool Party at the Talking Stick Resort on August 17th. Find tickets here.
