YetepA few good things came from Lil Nas X’s single “Old Town Road.” We saw a Billy Ray Cyrus comeback, countless “horses in the back” references and memes, and, apparently, a new Diplo project. His involvement with Lil Nas X’s remixes seems to have inspired a country house/EDM idea called “Diplo Presents: Thomas Wesley.” Thomas Wesley is the birth name of Diplo and is now professionally connected to his country persona as well. In addition to a partnership with Cam and Morgan Wallen for country-EDM singles, Diplo has released another single as Thomas Wesley as a collaboration with Jonas Brothers called “Lonely.” There’s also a cheeky music video released in conjunction with the single – watch it below for this week’s Watch it Wednesday.
The video starts with Diplo reading an article that details how Diplo “ruined” Joe Jonas and Sophie Turner’s Vegas wedding by live-streaming the whole thing. While in reality there were no hard feelings, in the video all three Jonas Brothers stubbornly avoid the phone calls of their other “brother” Diplo, now known as Thomas Wesley in his country get-up. Diplo is insistent through the video, which slides through scenes of the brothers singing and Diplo spinning on the decks. At the end of the cute video, the boys finally answer, but Diplo’s phone dies right as he answers. Ah, that’s how it goes sometimes. Poor Thomas Wesley.
You won’t have to worry about a missed connection with Diplo as himself this New Year – he’ll be playing at this year’s Decadence Arizona on December 30th & 31st. Get your tickets here.
