YetepSouth African DJ and producer Kyle Watson has carved out his very own unique space within the house scene thanks to his fresh and innovative production style and mastery of the decks. Also one of the great minds behind the renowned Box of Cats label, he’s had a successful career with prolific output and an active touring schedule.
This man needs little introduction, but in case you’re not as familiar as you’d like to be, I can help get you started. As we continue to sweat our way through this summer, let’s add a little Kyle Watson heat to the mix. Read on for 5 curated tracks to match the summer heat.
Released on Watson’s 2017 Road Trips EP via This Ain’t Bristol, this track sums up Kyle Watson’s idiosyncratic sound perfectly, which is also, in a way, “kinda wavy.”
My personal favorite,”Sides” was one of many standout tracks from Watson’s 2018 debut album, Into The Morning. This full-length album helped put Watson on the map, and he’s been on a steady climb upwards since.
Also from Into The Morning, “You Boy” is a crowd favorite that has since been remixed by the likes of Omnom and Billy Kenny, to name a few.
As Watson’s first release in 2020, “I Got You” started the year of strong with its catchy vocals and melodic bassline.
One of his more recent tracks, “Magic Carpet” is a groovy bop with strong bass house vibes.
Now that you’re heated up, don’t miss Kyle Watson for his long overdue set at Sunbar on Sunday, November 14th. Grab tickets here!
