YetepIn a world where dubstep artists are aplenty, Los Angeles-based producer LEVEL UP somehow still manages to stand out. With only a few years on the scene, LEVEL UP, aka Sonya Broner, has already released on Deadbeats, GRVDNCR, and Buygore, to name a few, and graced the stages of Lollapalooza, Lost Lands, Electric Forest, High Caliber, and many more. 2020 was her year, as she performed at over 30 drive-in events alongside Subtronics, Boogie T, HE$H, and more.
Broner began her DJ career as soon as she graduated high school and saved up enough money to purchase equipment, after which she spent hours practicing in her bedroom. She moved to New York City and began training as a hip-hop DJ four days a week while juggling college full-time. After learning the fundamentals and getting comfortable on the decks, she started doing scratch battles in local clubs to strengthen her skills. From there, she moved into the EDM production/DJing space, where she found her home.
Broner was drawn to dubstep the moment she heard it, citing Rusko, Caspa, and Skream as early influences. Her style leans to the heavier side of dubstep, with some wonkiness thrown in for good measure. This plus her dark and spooky aesthetic has already mesmerized fans all over the world as she continues to grow into the spotlight.
LEVEL UP is currently headlining her own Summoning Tour, which will be stopping at Aura in Tempe on October 1st. You can grab your tickets here!
