YetepBritish dubstep icon Rusko has been on a Drum and Bass kick lately, and we are here for it. His last few EPs, including his collab EP, Reefers, with Dutta in March and Mac 19 in August, were both heavy on the DNB, and to continue his streak, he just dropped another EP, entitled Shut Ya Mouth.
Released via Souped Up Records, Rusko’s Shut Ya Mouth EP is made up of three DNB tracks, all, of course, infused with Rusko’s old school dubstep sound. The title track sets the tone with its reggae influences and deep sub-bass elements, while “Real Badman” and “Your Time’s Up” follow suit.
Check out the EP below!
Rusko helped pioneer the dubstep genre back in the 2000’s, along with fellow DJ/producer Caspa, starting with their dubstep-dedicated mix for London nightclub Fabric’s compilation series, Fabriclive. The mix featured Rusko’s signature bass “wobble” that his since blown up in the scene today. This moment was so iconic that the Guardian UK called it one of the 50 key events in dance music history.
Shortly after, Rusko began releasing a slew of singles and EPs, and remixed tracks by artists like Kid Cudi, Lady Gaga, and Kid Sister. He also helped produce M.I.A’s third album, “Maya.” in 2010, Rusko’s single “Da Cali Anthem” became the first dubstep tune to be listed on US radio and his first full-length album, “O.M.G.!” was released via Mad Decent/Downtown.
Rusko will be at Sunbar in Tempe on Wednesday, November 24. Grab tickets here!
