Lastlings Release Their Single ‘Gravity’ to Complete Their Upcoming ‘Perfect World’ LP

Floating in a dreamy trance is the sounds of Lastlings newly released single “Gravity.” A refreshing blend of indie and dance music, “Gravity” expresses the feelings of lost love and desire. As well, their newest single encapsulates feelings of nostalgia and being adrift. The mix of cinematic swells, textured basslines, and light and airy vocals epitomizes Lastling’s unique electronic style. “Gravity” is the  fifth and final track off their forthcoming sophomore album, Perfect World, which is being released under RÜFÜS DU SOL’s Rose Avenue Records on June 23rd.

The Japanese-American sibling duo, Josh and Amy Dowdle of Lastlings, work together to create beautiful emotional tracks like “Gravity.” Amy’s captivating emotive vocals illuminating Josh’s authentic and hypnotizing production creates a perfect balance in their sound.

“We had been stuck on finishing this song throughout the entirety of writing this record. Amy used parts of a song that she wrote years ago, for example, the very end of the track, ‘Now we’re on hold.’ We asked Rinzen, who remixed a song of ours from our first record to add his finishing touches to this track. The driving gritty bassline is our favorite part of this song.”

Lastlings accompanied the release of the new track with a music video, which you can watch below. A lucid cinematic masterpiece, astray and chasing after something that has been lost, the video emphasizes the message of “Gravity” and is a preview into what Perfect World will express.
