YetepMarc Kinchen (MK) has had quite a year earning two Australian Recording Industry Association (ARIA) nominations and one award for “Rhyme Dust” with Dom Dolla. Additionally, “Asking” with Sonny Fodera and Clementine Douglas hit #6 on the UK singles chart. MK is known as one of dance music’s first superstars and has been consistently releasing hits throughout his entire career; 2023 is no exception. This year alone, he’s collaborated with Calvin Harris, Ellie Goulding, Bebe Rexha, Lee Foss, and plenty of other superstars. It’s no surprise his recent release “Take My Chance” is another hit single.
At the start of the track you’re met with a house beat, but as Clementine Douglas’ vocals are introduced MK replaces the beat with uplifting piano chords that compliment the hopeful lyrics. This leaves room for the storytelling to shine, further pushing the hopeful spirit of this killer track. The beat is re-introduced for the chorus, which builds momentum for the encouraging peak and makes me want to “Take My Chance.” MK’s production is effective and allows the lyrics to speak for themselves, which is a strong skill to have for any seasoned producer. Not only is the structure of the track well placed, the beat naturally meshes with the lyrics and compliments them rather than taking over. MK is nothing short of impressive and I’ll be a listener for years to come.
