What was it that originally got you into music? Was there one show, event, or release that inspired you to start your career?

I have always been interested in music ever since I was a child. I was like 2 years old yelling at mom to play the Spice Girls and would like to scream-sing it to her lol. Then in the 5th grade I discovered punk and grunge and fell totally in love with Kurt Cobain which led me to take guitar lessons. Then as I got older and discovered more music was when electronic music came into my life and I became totally enamored with it and it was an instantaneous feeling of what I am meant to do. I then started going to so many shows and festivals and just everything. I dove completely head first into it all and never looked back!

Who are some of the most influential artists for you? Is there one artist in particular that you would like to work with?

This list is honestly infinite for me and so diverse as well. Like I love electronic music, I love rap and hip & hip hop, I love classic rock, I love punk, I love it all. So as far as influential artists my list is like RL Grime, Jimi Hendrix, Stevie Nicks, Kurt Cobain, Rustie, TNHGT, Skrillex, J Cole, Kendrick Lamar, Dr. Dre, and so many more. I think it would be hard for me to pick one artist to work with, but as of now I have been really fixated on having a song with A$AP Rocky one day and then for an electronic collaboration, hands down RL.

Your style of music is so fresh and innovative. What is your creative process like? Is there a special time or place in which you feel most creative?

That is so nice, thank you so much! All of my music is emotion based, I can tell you like why, who, or what that song’s purpose was for. It’s an outlet for anger, happiness, anxiety, love, heartbreak, confusion, all of it. People my whole life have always told me I am so sensitive, which I most definitely am. But I feel pretty thankful for that cause it allows me to connect so deeply with what I do. If it’s just a trap banger or a beautiful melodic track they are all definitely a little piece of me. As far as time and place just usually when I am home. I have learned from touring that I’m not the best with production on the road, I haven’t really figured out that balance yet. But, when I get home from show runs I usually have a lot of inspiration and feelings and creativity. I’m ready to get out.

What is your favorite part about being a musician and producer?

I mean all of it as corny as it sounds. Music is my passion so to be able to make something that connects with other people and brings us together is a pretty dang special thing. I also absolutely love playing shows. There is nothing like playing a show and sharing that energy and being so present with a group of people all there for the same reason. And then just for myself it’s like my safe place, it’s my outlet, it’s my judgment free zone, it’s my everything. Being an artist is just who I am at the end of the day. That sounds so corny haha but hey when you are passionate about something thats the way it goes!

What is your favorite (or strangest) fan experience you want to share and how did  it impact you or your music?

I think one of the most surreal feelings was the first time someone got my name tattooed on them. I signed her chest at Beyond Wonderland at the Gorge and she then got it tattooed. So to have someone get your name permanently on their body is a big freaking deal so I was so humbled and was like this is so much bigger than just me now. Like this isn’t just for me anymore this is for all of us and all the people who feel connected to my music and my project. So, it makes me feel really inspired and to never give up even when things get really really hard.

What advice would you give a female producer/DJ who is just starting out in a male dominated industry?

To remember you matter, your art matters, your place matters, and you deserve to be here. Don’t ever ever ever let them make you feel small and you can do anything they can do and more.

What are you most excited for during your upcoming visit to Darkstar? Do you have  anything special planned or any upcoming releases fans can be on the lookout for  during your set?

I have made an entirely new set for this show filled with lots of new unreleased songs and edits! This is also my first headline tour ever and my first headline in Tempe ever so every aspect of this show feels special and I’m going to work super hard to make sure that translates to every person who comes so they have the best time!
