NGHTMRE’s ‘In Your Eyes’: An Operatic Journey Through Emotion and Sound

WOW!!! Absolute Chills.

Well-known EDM legend NGHTMRE has done it again!! “In Your Eyes,” a collaboration with Jon Casey and Pauline Herr, is a slam-dunk track that defies convention and expectation. The lyrics, instrumentals, and production are firing on all cylinders here, making for an incredible listening experience. This needs to be added to your streaming queue IMMEDIATELY.

The song opens with a symphonic wave of sound, slowly drawing you in as you hang on every note. As this steady wave of continues to gradually build, the emotional lyrics begin: “Only myself when I’m alone. I don’t need no one to feel at home. Don’t wanna pick up the phone. I’d rather cancel my plans.”

As the first verse continues into the chorus, more elements are added including claps, a bass drum, and laser-like effects. These all culminate in a gun-cocking sound effect and the first bass drop. This first drop is very trap-oriented which is a nice touch! The chorus and drop is repeated with distinct laughter effects present throughout. NGHTMRE’s eye for detail is on full display in this song’s production. The verses than resume, but this time have the full backing of the instrumental to further enhance their emotional impact. This leads into the final drop, which moves at a different tempo and takes a more stripped-down approach to things, before bringing us back down to earth. What a journey.
