Kaskade Replaces Tiësto as Super Bowl’s First In-Game DJ

As the highly-anticipated annual Super Bowl approaches, sports and music fans alike have been looking forward to the big day, as GRAMMY-winning Dutch DJ and producer Tiësto was recently revealed to be the first in-game DJ for the special event.

Tiësto was set to play during the warm-ups at the Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, as well as spin music during featured breaks throughout the course of the game itself. Unfortunately, due to an unforeseen family emergency, Tiesto will no longer be able to perform.

“A personal family emergency is forcing me to return home Sunday morning,” Tiësto posted via social media. “It was a tough decision to miss the game, but family always comes first.”

While thoughts and prayers go out to Tiësto and his loved ones, NFL took to Instagram a few hours later to announce that world-renowned and highly successful artist Kaskade would be stepping in to take his place this Sunday, making history as the first ever in-game DJ for the Super Bowl.

Kaskade, expectedly ecstatic about the opportunity, shared his personal thoughts on Instagram, writing: “As a kid who grew up in Chicago watching the Super Bowl every year with my family this chance to actually be part of it is absolutely mind blowing,”

He went on to express his feelings on the Entertainment Capital of the World, adding the following:

“Las Vegas has been my second home for the past decade, as an architect of creating a landscape that includes House and Dance Music residencies as part of its destination. To be able to be the first Electronic Musician to be part of the full game experience of the Super Bowl held in Las Vegas seems like coming home, and I’m beyond excited to represent my community.”

Past pre-game performers include DJ Khaled, Zedd, D-Nice and DJ Snake. However, Kaskade will unlock a brand new achievement this weekend, providing an exciting spotlight for the electronic dance community.

Be sure to tune in this weekend to watch Kaskade make history as the Kansas City Chiefs take on the San Francisco 49ers, for one of the most televised events in America.

Kaskade is headlining Day 2 of our very own PHXLIGHTS: Supernova, coming to the Phoenix Raceway on March 29th and 30th. Joined by artists such as Seven Lions, NGHTMRE, Joyryde, and Valentino Khan, you won’t want to miss this magical weekend. Grab tickets before it’s too late!
