Barclay Crenshaw’s ‘Open Channel’ Album is Here

One of the most influential artists in the house industry has decided that it was his time to take a step away. And what does the master, Claude VonStroke, do when he wants to explore more areas of his music? He turns to his alter ego! In this case, it is actually the Claude VonStroke name that is the alter ego. That is right, Claude VonStroke is not his real name, it is Barclay Crenshaw! Barclay Crenshaw is both his birth name and the name of his more diverse and adventuresome new music project. After releasing an absolute heater, “Blue Mile” with Of The Trees, Barclay decided to publicly challenge himself. He decided that to kick off the return to the Barclay project, he wanted to create an album in 80 days and bring everyone along for the ride. Through social media, he brought us day by day through the steps he would use to be the most effective and generate his creative flow. The results? Open Channel.

Truly one of the most unique and widespread albums with a more bassy tone, Barclay starts the album out by reminding everyone that he is still Claude VonStroke. There are very “Claude-esque” sounds interjecting in and a fantastically strange vocal collection. This continues and evolves throughout Open Channel which culminates with some ethereal dubs that seem like they are straight off the streets of Jamaica. While Barclay took his followers on a journey while making this album, listening to the album is like going on an adventure itself. Check out his socials below and stay in tune as he is planning on continuing to make more music.
