Remix Recall: Tape B’s Top Flips

Yo, Tape B! This week’s Remix Recall is dedicated to one of the greatest bass remix champions of our time, Tape B! Known for creating reimagined flips of classic hip-hop anthems on his Driptapes and CarTunes series, Tape B has been dominating the dubstep scene with his mind-blowing bass by putting a fresh spin on the classic old-school dubstep sound. Tape B first gained notoriety on SoundCloud with his flips of Metro Boomin and 21 Savage’s hit “10 Freaky Girls” and Slushii’s “Candyflip.” Here are a few of Tape B’s top flips before he takes off for INZO’s VISIONQUEST tour this weekend!

“Candyflip” – Slushii (Tape B Flip)

The flip that helped start it all—this trap remix—helped usher in a new age of melodic and groovy dubstep. Tape B flips Slushii’s gritty hit with his powerful, low-frequency bass, resulting in a hard-hitting rendition that is both simple and powerful.

“Goldie” – A$AP Rocky (Tape B Flip)

Dubbed a Tape B classic, this flip is legendary. Tape B elevates “Goldie” to the pinnacle of perfection with the addition of his masterful, wobbling bass. There is no better combination than the beats of Tape B and any A$AP Rocky track.

“Purple Swag” – A$AP Rocky (Tape B Flip)

Another Tape B x A$AP Rocky top flip, “Purple Swag,” is drippy. Tape B brings back that OG dubstep sound while seamlessly elevating A$AP Rocky to a whole new level. With the number of layers he adds to every flip, his production talents are unreal.

“Collapse” – Zeds Dead ft. Memorecks (Tape B Flip)

A raw remix with a beautiful breakdown. This flip of Zeds Dead’s “Collapse” will always stay in my recently played playlist. When the original hitmakers start playing your remix instead of their track at their shows, you know you’ve made it.

“Loud” – Mac Miller (Tape B X STVSH Flip)

Fresh off of Driptapes Vol. 5, this was one of Tape B’s most eagerly awaited flips of the year. With the assistance of STVSH, Tape B electrifies Mac Miller’s timeless song and delivers a potent dosage of the much-anticipated release. When it comes to taking some of the biggest singles of our generation and turning them into ferocious dubstep anthems, Tape B has a remarkable gift.

“Man Of The Year” – Schoolboy Q (Tape B x Lumasi Flip)

This flip is from this year’s stacked Cartunes Vol. 3, released in January (you should go listen to it after reading this). Tape B and Lumasi fuel it with filthy wubz and growling bass to take old school to new school. Without a doubt, Tape B is headed toward 2024’s “Man of the Year.”

Tape B has a vast repertoire of genre-defying flips, making it almost impossible to choose just a few of your favorites. Whether it’s his original tracks like “About Me Too” or anything off his Driptapes and CarTunes, Tape B consistently provides some of the industry’s best experimental bass and trap.

Tape B is supporting INZO on his VISIONQUEST tour this weekend! With a stacked lineup featuring INZO, Tape B, SuperAve. x Super Future, and Blookah, this is a show you do not want to miss!
