YetepMontreal, Canada-based star INFEKT is at it again, dropping the second single, “Play it Twice,” from his debut EP, set to drop on Monstercat on July 12th. Keep an eye out for this upcoming release from an incredibly versatile artist.
“Play It Twice” begins with earth-shattering Riddim tones and an I-N-F-E-K-T- countdown of sorts. Effectively stamping INFEKT’s trademark on the new release, while building anticipation for the rest of the track. We are already off to an EXCELLENT start. Shooting stars, earth-shattering bass, and sharp ridden tones build in intensity, as sharp drums maintain the percussive undertones of the track. Walls of bass crush us from all sides, greeting us with a vocal bridge:
“You know how it goes… If it’s nice.. Play it TWICE!!” as thick Riddim tones wonk around with intense drums that pleasantly pummel the eardrum. The beat is fire and gets the listener ready and amped for anything that they might encounter. The Riddim waves become thicker and spongier as the track goes on. Working in tandem with splashy percussion to maintain a consistent head banging sensation throughout. The synths create a sense of urgency before the Riddim waves and cymbals take over, giving this section of the song an icy, shatter-like effect. Beautifully executed! The other elements gradually return as electronic drum patterns build in volume and intensity. A cyborg-like vocal effect leads the listener into the second half of the drop.
The bass moves along quicker than ever, gradually increasing the tempo of the elements around it. Additional vocal effects are provided to add to the intricate auditory tapestry woven by INFEKT. The song ends in an uproarious wave of Riddim bass. “Play It Twice” is a well-crafted Riddim bop that surely lives up to its title, as I will be listening to it on repeat for years to come. This was my first introduction to the sound and production style of INFEKT and I will definitely be checking out the rest of his discography. Keep an eye out for the upcoming EP and other INFEKT-based announcements down the road. Happy Listening!
